Over the three day weekend last week I spent my time in Port A (Port Aransas). Now, you might be wondering why this applies to you but if you were planning on spending a weekend getaway there I suggest you read this article on whether you should or not.
First off I will warn you my vacation wasn’t the most luxurious thing since I stayed in my camper instead of a hotel. This probably won’t affect the difference in your stay but it was good to mention.
Okay so everyone always raves about the beach there and I won’t agree nor disagree with this. It was super crowded all three days I was there and we could barely fit a space for us without almost bumping into people. The beach is quite nice though I will admit and I like how clear the water is compared to most beaches in Texas.
Food wise I’ll say it was quite good. Of course most places if not all serve seafood but they serve American as well. This was a good thing for me because I’m not always in the mood for seafood even if I’m by the ocean. Almost all the restaurants also serve the fancier drinks like Pina Coladas, etc. I enjoyed that because if you don’t live near the beach they are pretty much inaccessible.
The last thing that I will talk about is the shops there. There are many different shops near the beach in a cluster. Most of the shops are pretty much the same when it comes to what they sell with the exception of small differences. Most sell bracelets, swimsuits, trinkets, and tee shirts/hoodies.
There are a few that only sell clothes though and one candy shop. Overall I enjoyed these stores because they each sell the same stuff but in different patterns, colors, etc. Although I do have a very small attention span and prefer brighter, more eye-catching things while my parents thought it was annoying and disliked having less options.
These are the most important things I had opinions on in Port A. Hopefully this gave you an idea of what it was like there and makes it easier to decide whether you should go or not. Also I will say despite the bad things I said about some of the stuff I really did enjoy the trip and recommend it to others considering it.
