The new word game has taken the world by storm. First released in October of 2021, Wordle has drawn many players of all ages. From different game modes to spoilers, if you mention this game by name, in RBMS at least, everyone will know what you are talking about. Is this good? Are we all addicted to wordle? Will wordle get blocked on the school computers?

The name wordle comes from the developer’s name, Josh Wardle, just switching the A to O to make it say wordle. The game instructions say, “Guess the WORDLE in six tries. Each guess must be a valid five-letter word. Hit the enter button to submit. After each guess, the color of the tiles will change to show how close your guess was to the word.”

After the game’s sudden spike in popularity, lots more versions of wordle appeared. My personal favorite is Worldle, a geography game where you guess the country by its shape. and wordle archive where you can play every wordle ever. There is even Wordle Unlimited where you can make your own wordles. But there are more types where you play multiple wordles at once, Like dordle where you play 2 wordles at once and Quordle where you play 4 wordles at once, or Sedurdle where you play 16 at once. In Absurdle you aim to last the longest by not guessing the word, and Crosswordle, you must figure out two related words and how they intersect in a crossword format. There is also Nerdle where the letter is replaced with numbers to make an equation, And many, many more.

“Yes I play wordle, I think it’s a fun challenge to see how smart I am.” 8th-grade teacher Mrs. Burke says, “I think I am excellent at wordle. I don’t play any other games Because I will get hooked and I will spend all of my free time playing wordle and I will have an addiction to wordle.” “Yea I play wordle, it gives me something to do besides work.” 8th grader says, ” I’m not really good at it. I always guess words that are not close, so I just go back to my work.”

In Conclusion, Wordle is just a word game that a lot of people play. Some people play wordle all day and for others, it’s just a daily task. What do you think? Is wordle going to take over the world?
