A Sneak Peak At The Future

A Sneak Peak At The Future

It’s that time of year again, the 8th graders here at RBMS are going to visit LHS on Thursday. We have had multiple counselors talk to the 8th graders in the past months about what electives and core classes they wish to take next year. We also had multiple presentations on the different programs they have there.
School is over in 3 months so our 8th graders have to start thinking about what classes they want to take next year since it is approaching quickly. These classes will most likely set the ground for what they will want to major in if they choose to stick with their electives.
LHS has many programs including the IB program, ROTC, dual enrollment, and their college credit classes. The IB program can get you college credits by taking all AP classes if you do it for a couple years. The ROTC program can give you rigorous discipline like the military if you wish to join the forces someday. Dual enrollment is another form of getting college credits but instead of taking all AP’s you would take college classes while taking high school classes. These are just some of the more popular programs though, they have others that you should look into.
“I’m taking AP Human Geo, advanced bio, english and geometry as well as intro to wellness, and volleyball.” Said Macy Cepeda. Macy also wants to continue Spanish and pursue school volleyball like she has been in previous years. Macy is excited for next year because she doesn’t want to be in middle school anymore. She is a straight A student so I’m sure she will do well next year even though she plans on taking difficult classes. Although fortunately for Macy none of her electives require her to subcampus another school too so that should make things a bit easier for her.
Just remember, it’s never too early to begin thinking about what you want to take in high school and college! Don’t wait until the last year to start thinking about your electives because you will regret it later when you can’t get a schedule change. Just some information and tips from a student in the graduating class of 2026!
