The 2022 Winter Olympics

March 9, 2022
The Winter Olympics of 2022 just occurred, and many people enjoyed these amazing events such as Women’s 500 Speed Skating in which the gold was taken by none other than America’s Erin Jackson. Other events include Ski Jumping, Snowboarding, Ice Hockey, Curling, Figure Skating, Skeleton, and Bobsledding just to name a few.
Personally, I prefer to watch the Summer Olympics but I still believe that the Winter Olympics are still very fun to watch. This year the U.S. took fourth place total number of metals which include 8 gold medals, 10 silver, and 7 bronze.
The United States won events such as the Women’s Monobob, Men Single Skating, Men’s Freeski Slopestyle, Mixed team Aerials, Women’s Snowboard Cross, Women’s Snowboard Slopestyle, and finally the Women’s 500 Speed Skating.
Norway won the most medals with 16 gold medals, 8 silver medals, 13 bronze medals. Germany came in second with 12 gold, 10 silver, and 5 bronze. In third place was China with 9 gold, 4 silver, 2 bronze. The Olympics were very fun to watch this year as there were many new records broken, and there were many intense competitions.
My favorite event of the Winter Olympics has always been the Snowboard Slopestyle as I love watching the freestyle and competitions. The Winter Olympics was started in 1924 as Pierre de Coubertin felt a need to bring the best athletes from around the world to compete in 1 place to determine the best.
Overall the Olympics are always a treat to enjoy every four years as that makes it even more special. I am looking forward to the next Olympics, and I hope you are too.
